The Creation of YouTube.

For our in-class presentations, we had to do research on developing the technology. But, it had to be based on a certain timeline. I was able to research YouTube, and how it became the 3rd most viewed website. YouTube was activated on February 14th, 2005. It was founded by Jawed Karim, Chad Hurley, and Steve Chen. ( Fun fact, they worked together prior at pay pal! ) They created a video - sharing website where users could upload, share, and view content whenever they would like. YouTube escalated very quickly. The first-ever YouTube video was by Jawed Karim ( a co-founder ) at the San Diego Zoo. It was a 20-second long video of him saying elephant, and it was uploaded on April 23, 2005. This video now has 76M views. A HUGEE milestone for YouTube was when the first-ever YouTube video got 1B views!! Crazy, right?  GANGNAM STYLE - PSY was posted on July 15th, 2012 and now has 3.4B views. The most-viewed YouTube video up to today is the music video of Despacito by Luis Fonsi which now has over 6B views. The fact that YouTube can reach and audience of almost the entire World, is just mind-boggling. YouTube has changed society in how we view different aspects in the World. It helps people to get discovered because the audience on YouTube can be up to billions of people, there is also any content you want on YouTube. Need to learn Portueges and you want to learn how people in Russia live? You can do that, on YouTube. Spread awareness, learn math, connect with people on a deeper level all while using the same exact website. YouTube grew quickly and continues to grow. Researching YouTube really changed how I think about YouTube and all that it can really do for us with helping us learn, educate, self- motivate and so much more.
