Roger Diffusion of Innovation: YouTube

Roger Diffusion of Innovation is a theory that explains why, how and what rate does new technology spread at. The beginner stages have innovators, which are the first people to take on this new technology and use it. Early adopters are also people who take on this app early and start to use it but not as fast as innovators. Early Majority is how the average person would use technology and spread it. The late majority is the people after the beginning stages who learn about technology and then will use it. Laggards are people who normally won't even try out the new technology.

YouTube is one of the largest website and social networking websites to ever be used. Innovators are people who started using the app when it came out in 2005. A few innovators could be Trisha Patas, Jeffree Star or even one of the creators Jawed Karim, who put the first-ever video onto YouTube. As YouTube became a larger platform, more people started to use and spread their videos on YouTube.

I think YouTube caught on and spread, and continues to spread, is due to the fact that there are multiple uses for this platform. People are able to learn, travel, and get insight into celebrities' lives without ever having to leave the comfort of their beds.

YouTube has also become a powerful marketing tool. Brands are able to find influencers to promote their products and give reviews about them.
